Pennsylvania Man Charged with Social Security Fraud

William Key, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged by Information with one count of theft of government funds, announced United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen. According to the Information, the defendant received retirement benefits under two different names from September 2004 until November 2016. The defendant’s alleged actions resulted in a loss to the government of approximately $57,536.40.
If convicted, the defendant faces a ten-year term of imprisonment, a 3‑year period of supervised release, restitution to the government of $57,536.40, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, Pennsylvania State Police, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher E. Parisi.
